“GOD SAVE THE QUEEN”

              Today I was very upset when I heard the daily news of the attempt on Queen Elisabeth. I was shocked, as if it happened to a person of my family.  

              I will never forget when in 1964 she visited Melbourne. All the schools were called to meet in the city and celebrate her arrival. There were students from many schools. My school, St. John’s joined in too. My mates and me were there, all wearing our blu uniform. I can’t forget when the Royal Coach passed right in front of us. At that moment we cheered and greeted her.  Very composed we waved   the National Flag. I saw her very well. My glance caught straight in her eyes. She was beautiful when she opened a lovely smile to us. She also waved her sweet hand  in the usual way.

             Her Christmas speech was very simple but full of love and nostaligy for her dear Husband Philip of Endenburgo,  who passed away in April 2021. She looked perfect wearing a bright pink dress with the precious brooch that brings back  to her  lots of memories.

                 

              “DIO SALVI LA REGINA”

              Oggi ero molto dispiaciuta quando ho letto la notizia che cè stato un attentato alla Regina Elisebeth. Ero scioccata, come fosse successo ad un famigliare.

             Non potrò mai dimenticare, quando nel 1964 fece visita a Melbourne. Tutte le scuole erano chiamate per celebrare il suo arrivo. Erano presenti molti studenti. Anche la mia scuola, St. John’s  fu invitata. Tutte noi indossavamo la nostra blu uniform.  Mi ricordo come fosse ieri, quando d’avanti a noi passò la Carrozza Reale. Eravamo molto disciplinate, a quel momento si cominciò a sventolare la bandiera Nazionale.  La vidi molto bene, il mio sguardo l’ha catturò dritta negli occhi. Era bella quando  versi di noi aprì un bel sorriso. Ci salutò con le sua dolce mano nella maniera a lei appropriata.

             Il suo discorso di Natale è stato semplice, ma pieno d’amore e nostalgia per il suo caro Marito, Filippo di Edimburgo, che l’ha lasciata in Aprile 2021. Era perfetta indossando un vestito fucsia con un prezioso spillo che riporta a lei tanti ricordi……
