My Mothere, Clementina, and my husband’s Mother, Maria, were friends. They grew up in the Old Town. They learnt the art of embroiding at the Nuns,and they were colleagues in the textile factory of the Cucirini Cantoni Coats. For ten years My Mum left the town emigrating in Australia, but when she came back their friendship seemed it never stopped. Life reserved for them the joy to became Mothers in-law. Probably, even now they are together smoking a sigarette on a twinkling star……
La mia Mamma, Clementina, e la Mamma di mio marito,
Maria, erano molto amiche. Sono scresciute nel Centro Storico. Frequentarono le
Suore per imparare l’arte del ricamo, ed erano colleghe di lavoro alla Cucirini
Cantoni Coats. Per dieci anni Mia Mamma lasciò il paese per emigrare in Australia,
ma quando ritornò la loro amicizia fu come non si fosse mai fermata. E la vita
le riservò la gioia di diventare con-suocere. Anche adesso, probabilmente sono
insieme a fumare una sigaretta su di una scintillante stellina.
